Playlist of my Life

I’ve really been enjoying the videos that Teen Vogue has been uploading to their YouTube channel of different celebs creating a playlist of sorts of the songs that meant something to them.

I’m a big believer that music shapes us as people. I really think that if someone tells you that a song is important to them, you should really listen to it. When you put it on, close your eyes, and learn the lyrics, you will know that person a little more.

For me, genres aren’t the most important thing when it comes to finding music that I love. I am a writer and an emotional Pisces so for me, lyrics are HUGE. I do tend to lean towards rock or pop music more but if there is something in the emotions of the song that speaks to me at the right time, it will mean the world to me.

So I’ve put together a list of songs that either have a memory attached, I connected to them, they helped me get through something, had the words that I couldn’t find, or just defined a period of my life. Have patience with me, this might get out of hand. I love a lot of music. This is, in all honesty, a rather small list for me. I had to pick and choose. This is far from being the complete list of important songs. A lot of these songs, I would say that the entire album they came off of meant something to me and defined a part of my life.

01. The Young and the Hopeless – Good Charlotte
Because I’m young and I’m hopeless, I’m lost and I know this. I’m going nowhere fast that’s what they say.

02. Jesus of Suburbia – Green Day
Oh therapy, can you please fill a void? Am I retarded or am I just overjoyed?

03. I’m Not Okay (I Promise) – My Chemical Romance
Well if you wanted honesty, that’s all you had to say. I never want to let you down or have you go it’s better off this way.

04. A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More Touch Me – Fall Out Boy
Write me off, give up on me, cause darling what did you expect?

05. Sugar We’re Going Down – Fall Out Boy
I’m just a notch in your bedpost but you’re just a line in a song.

06. 321 – Hedley
Seems like we’re victims of bad timing, cause you wanted more than I did.

07. The Middle – Jimmy Eat World
It just takes some time, little girl, you’re in the middle of the ride.

08. Heart Shaped Box – Nirvana
She eyes me like a Pisces when I am weak, I’ve been locked inside your heart shaped box for weeks.

09. Some Say – Sum 41
It’s too late to even have faith, don’t think things will ever change, you must be dreaming.

10. My Heroine – Silverstein
But under your covers, more torture than pleasure and just past your lips, there’s more anger than laughter.

11. River Below – Billy Talent
I’m sick and I’m twisted, I’m broken you can’t fix it.

12. Say Anything – Marianas Trench
That little bitch with her head held so high, talking shit and I cut myself so I could feel something I know is not a lie.

13. Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) – Green Day
It’s something unpredictable but in the end it’s right. I hope you had the time of your life.

14. To Be Alone – Hozier
Honey, when you kill the lights, and kiss my eyes, I feel like a person for a moment of my life.

15. Lying Is The Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off – Panic! At The Disco
I’ve got more wit, a better kiss, a hotter touch, a better fuck than any boy you’ll ever meet, sweetie you had me.

16. All Too Well – Taylor Swift
You call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest.

17. I’ll Cover You – Rent
Live in my house, I’ll be your shelter. Just pay me back with one thousand kisses.

18. Gimme Shelter – The Rolling Stones
A storm is threat’ning my very life today. If I don’t get some shelter, oh yeah, I’m gonna fade away.

19. Some Nights – Fun.
Some nights I wish that this all would end, cause I could use some friends for a change.

20. Give Me Love – Ed Sheeran
Give me love like never before, cause lately I’ve been craving more.

What are some songs that mean something to you? What are your favourite songs?
