Apartment Flip: Bedroom

Sigh. My bedroom is an adventure.

I’ve been struggling to make my bedroom feel like my own little oasis for a while. I think mainly because I’m not in love with my furniture. I am very lucky. I know that I am very blessed with amazing parents and when I moved out, I didn’t have to buy any furniture. The bedroom set that I have is amazing quality and was passed down to me from them. It does the job, it really does.

However, it is NOT my style. If I won the lottery, I would totally buy new stuff but a bedroom set is expensive and I don’t know how much longer I’m going to be in this apartment. I don’t really know if I want to invest in things like that and then have to move it across the country or whatever.

So while my room isn’t exactly how I want it, I figured that I would show you what I am doing to make it feel more like my own.

I need my bedroom to be a cozy place, somewhere that I can really settle down. I’ve painted one wall this rose colour and it just makes me happy. It’s called Titanic Rose and it’s sort of a warm pink that has really brought something to my room.

Now, the bed is really the heart of the bedroom. I have a queen bed and an insane amount of pillows on my bed and yes, I sleep with all of these. I sort of make a little nest and burrow myself between them all with my duvet covering me.

Beside my bed, I have a few things that I like to keep beside me. I’ve got a cup of water, a reading lamp, whatever book I’m currently reading, a candle, some crystals, and a sleepy pillow spray. I have a hard time getting a solid nights sleep so I have all kinds of things like lavender scented spray for my pillow and things like that.

Across from my bed, I’ve got a pretty standard dresser and mirror. Nothing too special here. My mom managed to find these two little globe lamps at the thrift store. They had a nice glow to my room, help make it cozy.

To save on space, I decided to put my desk inside of my closet. I can pull the curtains to close it off if I want but I tend to keep the curtains closed over the half where my clothes are and open were my desk is. It’s been working for me so far. My things are out of my way but I still have a desk where I can sit and do my work or get ready in the mornings.

This is also the place where I’ve decided to put things up on my wall. Since I can easily close the curtains to hide it all away, I don’t mind this place looking a little busy. It’s my little creative corner.

So that’s my bedroom! Like I said, it’s not much right now and it’s not everything that I want it to be but I’m working on it and it feels like home. It’s a cozy place to crash at the end of the day and that’s all I can ask for.
