Guys, we did it.
We survived January. One of the darkest, coldest, most depressing months of the year. We have made it through to the other side and February is just around the corner!
February sort of feels like a bumper month. It’s so short and not much really happens. I kind of like looking at February as a time to start getting ready for spring and summer. The summer season where I live is so busy with tourists and for the past few years, we’ve had a lot of smoke in the air from forest fires in British Columbia. So summer isn’t super enjoyable for me.
I like spring, though. It’s getting warmer, the days are longer, and I can ride my bike again. We’re not as busy in the spring as well so all of the typical summer things that people do, I kind of prefer to do them in the spring. I’m just not as stressed in the spring and spring has weather that I prefer.
All of that being said, I always kind of think that I’m going to do more “summer prep” earlier in the year. You know, the way that people will “spring clean” their house and start working out in the spring so that they’re ready for summer? You kind of do your summer prep in the spring so that you’re ready for the fun season?
Well, my plan is to do that stuff in February and March. So going in February, I have plans to do some spring cleaning. This past week, I painted my bathroom and scrubbed every corner of it. I think I would like to spend the next month slowly starting to Marie Kondo my place. At least a little bit.
I’ve also been in talks with my doctor and I’m starting a new diet. I know that something I’m eating isn’t agreeing with me. I don’t have a fantastic diet but I don’t eat bad and I don’t eat very much food but I can’t seem to lose weight. So my doctor and I decided to do a bit of a detox. I’m really simplifying things and cutting most food out. In a few weeks, I can start to slowly add things back in. We’ll see how that goes.
