Born to Run: Three Looks

I love Urban Decay’s eyeshadow. Their palettes are works of art and every time a new one comes out, I get a little flutter of excitement. Not only are they stunning colours but they’re useful and they’re good quality.

The latest one to come out that made me feel something is the Born to Run palette. It’s a beautiful mix of colours, making me feel inspired and excited. I’ve loved playing with this, coming up with new looks. It’s got a million different uses and today, I decided to play around with it for you!

I’ve gone through it and put together three different makeup looks and thought that I would talk about them.

First things first, I don’t often wear a base. I very rarely wear foundation or concealer. I put a lot of work into my skin care and I don’t feel the need to use foundation. I don’t like the way that it feels and I’m learning to embrace my natural skin, my freckles, my blemishes.

There is something so special about a simple eye and a bright red lip. So the first look that I wanted to put together was this classic.

So I brushed the shade Weekender all over my lid and really just left it at that for my eyeshadow. I didn’t want to take away from the lip but putting this really nice, nude shade on the lids will even out the skin tone. It gives it all a solid base.

Then I did a simple winged eyeliner and used Stila’s All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso.

For highlighter, I used the shade Strobe in this Tarte palette and a subtle blush from Tarte as well.

As always, I used Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner and Marc Jacobs mascara.

I’ve never worn blue eyeshadow before. I haven’t ever really used a lot of colours, in all honesty. I use nudes for the most part but there are three green/blue colours in this palette that largely sold this palette for me. I did this look based around that.

Again, I used Weekender all over my lid for a base then hit the middle with the shade Blaze. Mixed in with Blaze, I threw in a lot of Big Sky, and on the outer corners, I used Radio. I also brushed Radio on the lower lash line to create drama.

On my lips, I used this Kat Von D lipstick in Bow n Arrow.

The highlighter shade I used was a little deeper in Stunner.

This might be my favourite look. It makes me think of a summer sunset and it makes me feel so good. I put this on and I felt golden and sparkly and bright. It just felt so happy.

I used probably the most colours in this one. I started with Weekender then put Stranded on my lids. In my crease, I smoked out Hell Ride, focusing on the outer corners. Then in the middle of my lid, I blended in Baja and Blaze. I then took Hell Ride onto the lower lash line, faded into Baja, and ending in Breakaway in my inner corner.

I’m not normally a fan of lip gloss but I love this gloss from Fenty. It feels good and I haven’t seen it look bad on any skin tone. It’s kind of perfect.

I also used this Fenty highlighter, which…it is beyond. The quality of Fenty’s highlighters is unbelievable. It’s amazing.

I had a lot of fun with these looks and I hope that maybe I was able to inspire you a bit. Eyeshadow is just too much fun…it’s like painting. If you love to play around like I do, I highly recommend this palette. It’s been a blast to work with.
