Champagne Supernova: A Rainy Day

There are very few things that I love more than a rainy day at home in the autumn. It’s chilly outside but the air smells fresh and clean and it’s cozy in my apartment. There’s a certain peace that comes with a rainy day. I can’t explain it. It just feels…good.

I like to use these days to relax, to reflect, to look forward. Life gets so overwhelming and a rainy day reminds me to take it easy. There’s no guilt in staying at home with a cup of tea and a magazine when it’s cold outside!

There are some things that I love to have around me on a rainy day. Usually, I’ll take some time to do my skincare routine. Mostly just because it makes me feel good and helps me relax. I’ll do a mask, exfoliate, lotion, the whole nine yards.

I also need a cup of tea with me! For me, the most comforting tea is a basic black tea but I love a spicy and warming tea from David’s Tea as well, like their Glitter and Gold. It’s just comforting.

Once I’ve gotten my mask on, I’m in my comfy clothes, and I’ve made a cup of tea, I like to sit down with a magazine or a book or something on Netflix. Right now, I’m reading through this issue of Vogue. I normally don’t buy Vogue because I find that so much of the magazine is advertisements but I like to buy the September issue every year. This one is fantastic so far.

I’ve been thinking about my interests and what I want to focus on. I’ve gotten away from the things that make me happy so I’m trying to focus on that again. I’ve always loved fashion and writing and being creative. So I’ve been reading this Vogue and I’ve been making plans for this blog.

I’m hoping to find the inspiration that I need to put all my love into something. It’s been a while.

When I’m reading, I like having a bit of background music. I’ve made this playlist on Spotify and it’s been something that I tend to listen to when the weather cools down.

When it’s cold outside, it’s also just so wonderful to have a warming bowl of soup. I made this corn chowder that I found from Tasty and it turned out SO well! It felt really good to come home from work today and have a warm bowl of soup waiting for me.

1 tablespoon oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 potato, cubed
1 ear corn, kernels removed (I used a can of peaches and cream corn and a handful of frozen corn kernels)
6 cups vegetable broth
2 cups water
1 tablespoon thyme
2 tablespoons paprika
1 bay leaf
1 cup milk/ milk alternative

1. Combine oil, garlic, and onion, salt, and pepper in a large pot over medium heat for 3 minutes.
2. Add red pepper, potato, and corn. Stir for another 2 or 3 minutes.
3. Add vegetable broth, water, thyme, paprika, and bay leaf.
4. Bring to a boil, place the lid on the pot, and simmer for 10 minutes.
5. Add milk or milk alternative, and stir.

I love the autumn. I love watching the snow gather on the mountains. I love hearing the rain on the pavement. I hope that you’ve found something wonderful to enjoy today.
